We had been told the forests in Costa Rica are brimming with animals, and while they are there, seeing them is another story! We were fortunate that on our one-day visit to Manual Antonio National Park we did have a couple of engaging encounters with white-faced monkeys. Watching them swing from tree to tree, one with a baby on its back, was very cool indeed!
The image today was of one little guy (or maybe gal) that came rather close to us, probably because it was used to tourists and hoping to be offered some tasty treat. But these are wild creatures and should not be fed.
Staring into the eyes of another creature like these cute little monkeys makes me wonder what’s going on inside them. Do they think, feel, and perceive in similar ways as us? Many believe consciousness is the domain of humans, but I’m not so sure. The more I spend time with animals – all kinds – and allow myself to be fully open to the present moment, the more I sense a far deeper connection than I have ever known.
