For the past six years, the Times Square Alliance has held an annual competition for design firms to create a work of art to be displayed in the square for Valentine’s Day. The image today is the 2013 winner from Brooklyn-based Situ Studio called Heartwalk, inspired by the outpouring of love and support shown after Hurricane Sandy.
THE END MEETS A NEW BEGINNING
It’s also fitting that today we showcase a heart as we have been walking through challenging times, and realizing that for all the wonders of the head, sometimes it fails to lead us in the right direction. Heart on the other hand, is rarely wrong! It’s the deep down feeling of knowing.
In this case it’s about our son’s school. From day one of this year our hearts began whispering what we didn’t want to hear, and our heads responded with rational justifications. In the end, having him attend was a bad decision on our part which we ended today. Even though we know in our hearts it’s the right thing, moving through the process has been a gut-wrenching experience for us all. It’s hard to put into words how frustrated we are about finding a good educational fit for our son these past few years.
So with heart, with courage, and with an eye on meeting the challenge head-on, we will once again regroup and welcome a new beginning.
