For the past day-and-half our Internet service (Comcast) was down so we are a bit late posting. Strange having a period of time with no connection! At first I felt lost, irritated, disconnected. But by the next day a certain peace settled over me because I knew there was nothing I could do. My morning was even more relaxed because I knew I could not jump on a check email or the news. The disruption really got me thinking about how reliant upon technology I have become!
The image today is another one from my recent trip to Washington. I really think seeing the capital late at night is one of the best times! No one is around, and all lit up it is one impressive building. The image also reminds me of what happened the next day. I was in a meeting when I heard lots of sirens and noise outside. A woman apparently tried to drive through Whitehouse barriers and then set off a chase with police around Capitol Hill. During the chase she injured two officers before being shot and killed by police. When they got to her car her one-year old, unharmed, was in the back seat.
The entire incident makes me sad. From what I have read, mental health issues likely played a significant role in her behavior. What a difference a few hours makes at the Captial.
