You can’t go anywhere in New York City without seeing yellow cabs, they are everywhere! When we first began visiting the city we used them quite often for convenience, but eventually realized that utilizing the subway system was about as fast and much cheaper by the time we flagged down a cab. Of course being from Portland we don’t have the best flagging techniques. Except for Trevor, who is quite brave and has no problem waving his hand assuredly in the air until he secure’s us a ride!
If you visit NYC you will undoubtedly take pictures of yellow cabs. One challenge I have found is that their bright color often contrasts horribly with the rest of the image, so I tend to toss out more cab shots than I keep. But if you want to add a little fun to your post-processing late-nighters, try desaturating all color except yellow! You can easily do this in Lightroom with a few clicks which is how I created the photo for today. Take a look at Gavin Hoey’s tutorial.
