Have you ever been to the North Cascades located in northern Washington? This national park is one of the most amazing places of natural beauty I have ever seen. While Mt. Hood has about a dozen glaciers, this park has over 300! Sadly, there is significant evidence that the glaciers are melting most likely due to global warming. The recently released movie Chasing Ice by James Balog, is perhaps the most visually alarming evidence that global warming is impacting our world in significant ways. What I love about the movie is that while it’s about global warming, it really is the story of a photographer who wanted to take his work a bit farther. So for those of you who like the tech side of the trade, there are plenty of cool gadgets and discussion about what it takes to photograph active glaciers all over the world.
The shot today was taken just east of Newhalem standing on a narrow bridge over Gorge Creek. I was with my buddy Scott on a boys outing and cannot wait to return!
