When we travel to New York City we always take a night flight and typically arrive in New York around 7am the following morning. Upon arrival we catch a cab and head straight to our hotel. Most of the time we get lucky and the hotel allows us to check-in when we arrive even though we are several hours early for a typical check in. This is a great way for us to catch a quick nap before heading off to our son’s doctor appointment.
After the appointment we do our best to make the most of our evening by seeing a show of some sort. As long as it is age appropriate for our son and reasonably priced we usually have something scheduled ahead of time. However, it is hard to beat just hanging out to watch the sun set over the Manhattan skyline. One of our favorite spots is from Gantry Plaza State Park. The park provides views of the Empire State Building and the United Nations Headquarters. The park is a 12 acre riverside playground that is clean, safe, and has some very cool artifacts of history, like these restored gantries.
