We live in very tenuous times. I know living in the past was no cakewalk either, but today’s challenges are on the cusp of irreversibly altering our planet and the future for our children if not resolved.
Since 1996, The Millennium Project has been tracking the 15 Global Challenges that require immediate attention. None of them are easy to overcome, and since the project began, it’s clear we are moving in the wrong direction for many of them. Yet with so much at stake, it’s paramount we don’t lose hope and continue our search for solutions.
One great place to find hope is in Larry Dossey’s latest book One Mind: How Our Individual Mind Is Part of a Greater Consciousness and Why It Matters. If you have never heard of Larry, he is a physician who is most famous for promoting nonlocal healing (prayer as medicine) in healthcare. This book represents perhaps his greatest gift to humanity:
My message is that there is a way of recalibrating our collective response to all of these problems (global challenges) – a move that then permits a cascade of solutions to fall into place…I believe that the concept of the unitary, collective One Mind, a level of intelligence of which the individual minds of all sentient creatures are a part, is a vision that is powerful enough to make a difference in how we approach all the challenges we face – not as a mere intellectual concept, but as something we feel in the deepest way possible.
The image today of those swinging towards the sun, is in honor of Larry and his life work to help us all awaken a bit more to the truth of our lives.
I encourage you to read One Mind.
