The image today of Voodoo Donuts is another one from my night out shooting a few weeks ago for the Portland Squared event. If you missed the results they are now posted. If you have never heard of this place, they have been a Portland icon for the past decade. They are famously known for donuts including the Bacon Maple Bar, Tex-ass Challenge (6 donuts in one!), and Gay Bar (with rainbow colored fruit loops on tops). And if you are contemplating a fun place to get married, look no further, Voodoo offers wedding packages! As tempted as I was to grab a donut to go, I have not patience for lines.
THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO
This past weekend Trevor and I watched the updated version of The Count of Monte Cristo. While the story of revenge was a bit beyond a ten year-old, when it was over we discussed what lessons came from the movie. Usually – truth be told – we don’t process movies much. But in this case, the opportunity to delve into the power of love and hate was just too tempting!
One lesson we discussed was that while anger (or perhaps rage) can feel good and be justified, it’s an emotion with incredible destructive power. The ability to forgive, let go, and move on with life is necessary if we are to live fully and ever experience the depths of love. If you have never seen this movie, put it on your must-watch list!
