As a photographer I have long discounted my camera phone as a serious image-creating tool. But I’m not sure why I have maintained this stance for so long! Cameras on smartphones have been steadily improving for years, and the image quality on many equals that of many expensive digital cameras.
The shot today of the Palmer Chairlift on Mt. Hood was taken with my iPhone and required very little post-processing (slight noise reduction). While the size of this image file would restrict printing size, I am seriously contemplating the new Samsung Galaxy S 5 which has a 16-megapixel camera that rivals my Pentax K5 ii (and is just a bit smaller and lighter).
For July 4th this year, we visited my old high school where for years now the city of Tigard puts on a big fireworks show. While not quite as impressive as those on the Waterfront Blues Festival, it was nice to do something different for a change. It also gave me the opportunity to snap this image which is using my iPhone camera.
