I have never been very interested in history. Sadly I am among the 7% of Americans who aren’t able to name the first four presidents. In school it was hard for me to get excited to learn about George Washington or the signing of the Declaration of Independence from the Encyclopedia Britannica! One of the benefits of travel is that history becomes far more interesting. Philadelphia City Hall is a good example as it is just another building in pictures, but when you visit it in person you begin to understand why it is the world’s tallest masonry building. At 548 feet high it is also the largest municipal building in the United States with over 700 rooms! Not bad for a little brick and mortar work. Of course if getting to Philadelphia is not on your radar anytime soon, watching National Treasure is not a bad option either. It’s one of many favorites of our family.
