We finally made it to the Guggenheim and enjoyed meandering around one of Frank Lloyd Wright’s architectural masterpieces. He designed the art museum as a cylindrical temple of the spirit and it clearly is among the most striking landmarks in New York. The day we visited we were fortunate to see Gutai: Splendid Playground, a visual feast from a group of young Japanese artists in the postwar era. Here is a great video describing the exhibition and showing some of the pieces.
ANOTHER SNOW DAY
We are still snowed in and the kid has another day off from school. One benefit of the snow and ice is that it slows life down immensely. Yesterday, a city-wide alert was sent to all cell phones telling residents to stay home. While I am sure many will experience cabin fever, we are grateful for the downtime. Besides, what could be better than being snowed in watching the winter Olympics!
