When we are in NYC we almost always see a show in the evening, have a little snack afterwards, and then Kelly and Trevor call it a night. Because we only stay one night when we visit, I usually take advantage of the time they are sleeping and shoot until the wee hours of the morning. Someday I would love to have an entire week to plan my evenings around picture taking, but for now I will take what I can get!
My normal routine is to find a fun playlist on Spotify, pop in my ear-buds, and then just start walking the streets in search of cool things to shoot. In the past I actually put a little planning into where I should go, but after numerous trips I realized there is no need to do this. Wherever you go in NYC there is always something to shoot, so long as you are really seeing what is in front of you.
So don’t worry so much about what you will shoot or getting to that one spot everyone says is a must-see. Trust that you will be shown what it is you are supposed to see, so long as you are seeing.
The image today of the entrance to Grand Central Terminal I thought would be in color, but after spending some time processing the image I just liked it better in black & white.
