We all love cheese and there are many great places in NYC to get it! The image today happens to be from the Grand Central Market, one of the best food markets in all of Manhattan. And while we love to eat out at interesting restaurants, food in NYC can be quite costly so we often hit the markets and take food back to our room.
Today’s photo also reminds me that cheese is one of those foods contributing to my ever-increasing waistline! It’s strange getting old, seeing my body change, my metabolism slow down, and knowing that I have to proactively take steps now to address my diet if I hope to avoid serious medical issues down the road.
Did you know that Americans spend $60 billion a year on diet pills and $75 billion on obesity-related healthcare? In the 1970’s less than half of the population were overweight or obese. Now two-thirds of us fit this category! All my life I have been a normal weight, but now based on my BMI I clearly fit the overweight category. Not good and not for long!
After reviewing a lot of books on diet I have decided to follow the DASH Diet for Weight Loss. If you have never heard of this diet, it really is more of a way to eat for life. Originally designed to reduce hypertension, it also produces great results for getting weight back to a reasonable number. And like most of these programs, the recommendation is for exercise as well.
So hold the cheese please, Ironman Canada here I come!
