While it looks quite promising that our house has sold, we are now taking the opportunity to once again simplify our life through downsizing. The plan is to move into a small condo about the size of the cabin, which means much of our stuff needs to go. If we had never gone through this exercise before it might be a bit painful. But since we have done it a few times, we know that ridding ourselves of things we rarely use actually feels really good.
I think it’s because getting rid of external stuff also frees up space inside. Stuff in all forms consumes mental and physical energy. We buy, use, store, clean, fix, lend, and pay for stuff in ways that suffocates the essence of life. Limiting stuff in our lives ultimately means more time for experiences!
So we are excited to move into a small space and consciously bring only what we really use on a regular basis. Also, did I mention that this little move means we will finally become debt-free? Debt is like stuff, the more you have the more weighted down you feel. With little stuff and no debt, I am hoping I don’t just float away. Then again, maybe that is the feeling I have been trying to get to all this time.
